What to Expect
Forget the ordinary trail ride where the only thing you know about your horse is their name. At Humberstone Ranch, we believe in the meaningful connections that can exist between horse and rider.
Our Horse Relaxation Experience provides a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The slower pace and serene setting allow our guests to unwind, disconnect from technology, and enjoy the simplicity of the ranch. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly vacation idea or a fun date for couples, we’ve got you covered.
Pre-ride Registration
Please arrive approx 10 minutes in advance so we can prep you and begin on time.
Horse Behavior & Communication
Learn the nuances of interacting with horses, ensuring a bond of mutual respect and safety.
Meet Your Horse
Get acquainted with our gentle horses in a relaxed and peaceful setting. Learn about their personalities and characteristics.
Equine Connection Exercises
Engage in ground-based activities with the horses, such as grooming, leading, or simply spending quiet time with them. Instructors will guide you, fostering a sense of connection and relaxation.
Guided Meditation with Horses
Immerse yourself in a guided meditation session led by our experienced facilitator, and surrounded by the calming presence of our horses. Let go of stress and tension; focus on mindfulness.
Reflection
Share reflections on your time with the horses. Enjoy the tranquility of the ranch and unwind.
Things to Know
Your Reservation
Note: This is a ground experience where you will lead the horse, you will not ride.
Reservations are required for all experiences at our ranch. We cannot accommodate walk-ins.
To ensure we start on time, arrive 10 minutes early to allow for check-in, waivers and any necessary preparations. As this is not a private experience, additional guests may join you.
Due to the complex nature of scheduling a working ranch, all sales are final.
Have any special requests or needs? Email us at least 24 hours before you arrive.
Dress Code
Dress comfortably and in layers for the weather. Ideal clothing includes jeans or long (not loose) pants as well as jackets or shirts without hoods. No jewelry that can get caught in the horse’s tack. Closed toes boots or sneakers.
Photos
For safety, you can’t take photos or use your phone while riding. But don’t worry, we’ll provide lots of photo opportunities at designated times!
Requirements
For the safety of our guests and our animals, on this experience:
- At least 16 years of age
- Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
- Bring a great attitude
- No smoking on entire premises
- No drinking beforehand
- No riding experience necessary
Weather
Humberstone Ranch is a four-season facility. In the event of inclement weather, experiences will be held inside our indoor arena.

Humberstone Ranch is just a short drive from Niagara Falls, the Buffalo Airport and Pearson International Airport. Our destination also makes a fantastic day trip from downtown Toronto.
